Recruitment Process

We offer a diverse range of employment opportunities at the RAA and we have designed our recruitment process around finding the right person with the right skills, abilities and experience which fit the role we need to fill and the culture of the organisation.

All vacant positions are advertised on our website, and are linked to the relevant position description outlining the selection criteria.  We also advertise on on-line job sites such as Seek and occasionally in the Advertiser.

Applying for a Position

Applications should be lodged electronically by the due date to the Human Resources Consultant, through the 'Apply Now' button on the on-line job ad.

Once you have submitted your application online, you will receive an email to acknowledge that we have received your application.

The length of time of the recruitment process will vary depending on the position you have applied for.  We recognise that the time you have invested in applying for a position, and we will endeavour to keep you informed of the progress of your application as efficiently and effectively as possible.

Short listing Candidates

After the closing date a Human Resources Consultant along with the relevant Manager will review your application against the selection criteria to determine if your skills, abilities and experience match our criteria.  We endeavour to shortlist for interviews within a fortnight of applications closing. If we decide not to progress with your application you will be notified by email.  If you are selected for an interview a Human Resources Consultant will contact you to arrange a suitable time to meet.

During the interview process you will be asked questions about your skills, abilities and experience and how these relate to the role you are applying for. This is also an opportunity for you to find out more information about the role and the organisation and we encourage you to ask questions.  You will be contacted by a Human Resources Consultant to advise you of the outcome of your interview within a fortnight of your interview taking place.

For some specific roles we will require you to complete further testing or assessments to assist us in determining your suitability for the role. A Human Resources Consultant will provide you with the details of any assessments in advance.

Pre-employment Medicals

It is company policy that all shortlisted applicants undertake a pre-employment medical.

Police Clearance

It is company policy that all shortlisted applicants undertake a police clearance.

Reference Checks

We require that at least 2 referees are provided.  If you are shortlisted your referees will be contacted and asked to comment on your skills and experience in relation to the role you are applying for.

Once a selection has been made all applicants interviewed will be contacted by phone to advise of the outcome of their application.  If you are successful at the final stage of the process a Human Resources Consultant will make a verbal offer of employment followed by a formal contract and information pack.

When a new appointment has been made the new employee will spend their commencement morning with the Human Resources Consultant for an initial orientation and to complete the appropriate paperwork. New employees will then be taken to their department for their departmental induction. Corporate induction which is a 1/2 day program will be scheduled for the next available session.
