The Ultimate Seabourn Sojourn
There’s no better recommendation than a happy client for any Travel agent and when Murray and Marilyn Goode returned from their 8th cruise last month, the bar had been raised to new heights - and taken to new watery delights.
“We cruised from Singapore to Japan over 33 days back to back aboard the Seabourn Sojourn and we were absolutely blown away from the first day,” said Marilyn.
“The ship only takes 450 guests and the cabins were exceptionally spacious with walk in robe, bath, double vanity and lots of storage; but the feeling aboard is very intimate. The crew knew our names everywhere we went from the first meal which made it a truly personalised and warm experience.”
Murray and Marilyn were equally impressed by the quality of food and exceptional staff service. “It would rival most 5 star hotels or fine dining restaurants in the world and we knew the produce was fresh from port after bumping into the head chef buying 40 kilo of baby squid in a local market. We enjoyed fresh mangoes, organic fruit and vegetables and local produce along the way so we really tasted the local flavours,” says Marilyn.

It’s hard to pin down highlights when you love every minute, but Marilyn said the enormous Taroko Gorge in Taiwan and the Japanese ports, particularly Nagasaki, were amazing especially as there was still some cherry blossom on the trees. Docking at Ho Chi Minh city was special as it’s something bigger ships can’t do. “We cruised right up the river amongst local fishing boats, container ships and barges and had to execute a complete 180 degree turn on the way out which was great fun.”
Murray recalls the signature Seabourn ‘Caviar in the Surf’ experience at Ko Kood Island, in Thailand as a standout. “Even though I’m not a big caviar fan, being served champers and caviar by fully clad knee staff waist deep in the crystal blue water was something you never forget. I also had a milestone birthday and came back to a cabin full of balloons, a 3-tier towel birthday cake plus Champagne and the obligatory birthday rendition – it was a special day from start to finish,” said Murray.

The couple couldn’t fault the cruise in any way saying even after 33 days, they were genuinely sad to leave the ship. They also sent a special thanks to our own RAA Travel Consultant Noel Watson at West Lakes.
“Noel has looked after us for many years and really understands our needs. With his help we’ve just had our ultimate cruise holiday.”
That’s definitely the ultimate recommendation and high praise indeed from some very seasoned travellers.
